Stars Are Aligned

There's something powerful about tracing a line that's been drawn for centuries, a pattern that begins at a central point and unfolds outward in precise symmetry. In many of these designs, it’s the star that lies at the center, expanding infinitely, reminding us of the interconnectedness of all things. I'm equally drawn to hard-edged geometric compositions and optical illusory effects. Through intentional exploration of color harmony, I use gradients and monochromatic elements to create a twisted visual play in the viewer's eyes. These works reflect my attraction to structure: a need for balance within chaos, and a curiosity about how precision can generate movement. Whether rooted in historical motifs or modern abstraction, all my work stems from the same impulse: to create rhythm from stillness, clarity from complexity.

As a child, I would watch the night sky from our balcony, completely fascinated, slowly forming a special relationship with the stars. Growing up in the Middle East, I was surrounded by intricate patterns embedded in everyday architecture, the tiles of mosques, the mosaic floors of ancient cities. That visual language stayed with me. My interest deepened through a personal study of sacred geometry, a path that revealed how ancient cultures used form and proportion to express spiritual and philosophical truths. Years later, when I came across Arabic Geometrical Pattern and Design by J. Bourgoin (1973), it felt like a homecoming, a rediscovery of something I had always known, but now ready to explore with intention and devotion.

From that point on, I began developing my own relationship with these patterns through painting. When I paint them in color, it feels as though I'm bringing them to life. Each brushstroke is a way of illuminating the form, as if the pattern has been waiting for light and energy to flow through it.

I often think of The Alchemist, a story of wandering through deserts in search of meaning, only to realize the treasure is already within. As travelers once looked to the stars to find their way across the desert, I see these patterns as a way of navigating my inner landscape. They remind us to return to center, to look inward, and to trust in the unfolding.

To me, this is more than geometry.

It's a meditation.
